The Ladakh Health Department has launched a Digital Health Card scheme exclusively for the Changpa nomadic tribes, who roam the Changthang plateau with their livestock. These communities often live in remote, high-altitude regions without access to regular healthcare. The digital health cards will store individual medical histories, enabling mobile health teams to provide timely treatment and continuity of care.
This initiative is especially crucial during winter when the region becomes inaccessible due to snow. With digital records in place, patients won’t need to carry papers, and doctors can offer informed treatment on the go. It’s a key step in improving tribal health outcomes.
