On July 10, 2025, the Meghalaya Cabinet approved the Film Tourism & Creative Media Policy 2025, aiming to transform the state into a premier filmmaking destination. After reviewing over 200 public feedback submissions, the policy now includes financial incentives of up to ₹1 crore (or 25% of production cost) for national/international films—if they shoot 75% outdoors in Meghalaya. Local Khasi, Pnar, and Garo filmmakers receive subsidies up to ₹50 lakh every two years. A new Film Facilitation Cell will streamline coordination across Tourism, Arts & Culture, and DIPR departments.
