A BBC Vietnamese journalist who lives in Thailand traveled to Vietnam in August to renew her passport and visit family.After renewal, authorities seized her passport and ID, barring her from leaving the country.
She was then interrogated for several days about her reporting and asked to admit to writing certain articles.
The issue gained attention during Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm’s UK visit, prompting international concern.
The UK government and human-rights groups have demanded her release, calling it a serious violation of press freedom in Vietnam.
