INDIA GOES GREEN: TRIPURA JOURNALIST REPRESENTS NATION AT WORLD CLIMATE CONFERENCE IN BRAZIL

Senior journalist and noted environmental activist Dr. Biswendu Bhattacharjee from Tripura has been selected as a member of the Indian delegation to the 30th World Climate Conference (COP30), scheduled to be held in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21, 2025. Invited by the United Nations and representing the United News of India (UNI), Dr. Bhattacharjee is one of just eight journalists selected from India to cover the prestigious summit focused on “International Cooperation to Tackle Climate Change Challenges.” With over two decades of dedicated experience in environmental advocacy and journalism, particularly focused on India’s Northeastern region, he will also deliver a talk on citizen initiatives to combat climate change in Central Asia. This selection underscores the critical importance of regional expertise in shaping global climate policy and journalism.

How can media best leverage regional expertise to bring India’s local climate realities to the international policy table at COP30?
