Press Club to Dhaka: Apologize for the ‘Bootlicker’ Remark Against Indian Media

The Press Club of India has demanded a formal apology from a Bangladesh official who called Indian journalists “bootlickers.”The remark has sparked nationwide outrage, with media bodies calling it an insult to the freedom and dignity of journalism.

The Press Club said journalists are not bootlickers, but the voice of the people and watchdogs of democracy.
The controversy has reignited debate over press freedom and mutual respect between nations, reminding that a free press stands tall  it never bows to power.

“An apology may mend words  but respect for the press must come from understanding its purpose. Journalism isn’t servitude; it’s service to truth, to people, and to democracy.”
