Silencing the Press? Arun Yadav Questions Journalists’ Detention Over ‘Fake News’ Allegation

In a strong defense of press freedom, Congress leader Arun Yadav has condemned the detention of two journalists in Madhya Pradesh over allegations of publishing “fake news.” Calling the move an attack on democracy, Yadav emphasized that journalism’s role is to question power, not to fear it.

He stated that silencing reporters through intimidation or arrest weakens the very foundation of a free society. “Journalists are not enemies of the State  they are the voice of the people,” Yadav remarked, urging authorities to uphold constitutional rights and ensure media independence.

At a time when truth itself is under scrutiny, the call for protecting journalists is not just political  it’s moral. Because when truth-tellers are punished, democracy itself stands accused.
