TELANGANA MINISTER SEETHAKKA ASSURES CONTINUED GOVERNMENT SUPPORT AND WELFARE FOR JOURNALISTS

Telangana’s Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Women and Child Welfare Minister, Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, has publicly assured the state’s journalistic community of the government’s strong and continuous support.

Speaking at a Journalists Welfare Fund cheque distribution programme, Minister Seethakka highlighted the critical role reporters play as a “bridge between the people and the government,” ensuring public concerns are heard by the administration. She paid special tribute to journalists who lost their lives in the line of duty and specifically lauded the contribution of rural and senior reporters to the success of the Telangana movement.

The event detailed several key initiatives and plans for media welfare:

  • Financial Security: The Telangana Media Academy distributed ₹24.5 lakh to the families of deceased journalists, which includes a lump sum and a five-year pension, providing immediate financial relief.

  • Housing and Health: Minister Seethakka stated she has appealed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to sanction houses for journalists who do not own one and to provide health cards to the families of deceased reporters, addressing critical long-term security needs.

  • Professional Development: The Media Academy is actively conducting training in modern skills like Artificial Intelligence (AI), social media, and language skills to enhance the professional capabilities of field reporters.
