Ad Revenue Flight: Local News Starved by Digital Shift

Small and mid-sized regional newspapers are facing imminent financial collapse as local advertising revenues rapidly migrate to hyper-targeted digital platforms. While a handful of the top 20 national publishers still control 80% of the industry’s print ad revenues, regional dailies are being starved out of the market.

The Bharat Media Association actively champions the survival of local journalism. We urgently call for decentralized government advertising policies and localized business sponsorships to ensure that regional newsrooms do not go bankrupt under the shadow of national media monopolies.
