Veteran journalist Lakshmi Narayan Singh, fondly known as Pappu, was brutally hacked to death near Harsh Hotel in Prayagraj on Thursday evening.He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead.

Police quickly tracked the main accused, Vishal, who had bought the murder weapon a knife from Machhli Bazaar. In a late-night encounter, he was shot in the legs and arrested.

Two others have been detained, and investigations suggest there may have been a personal dispute behind the attack  though the full motive remains unclear.

Authorities say the journalist’s courage and work for truth will not be forgotten.
