Decaying Press Plants: The High Cost of Obsolescence

Print media faces a hidden financial crisis: the rapid obsolescence of massive, imported newspaper printing presses. With genuine spare parts becoming either impossibly expensive or entirely unavailable, maintaining these decaying production facilities is bleeding regional publishers dry.

The Bharat Media Association highlights that this crippling depreciation is forcing smaller newsrooms out of the print business entirely. We call for domestic manufacturing support and government subsidies to help regional media houses upgrade their legacy infrastructure without falling into insurmountable corporate debt.
