The deep integration of artificial intelligence is creating entirely new job categories and technical workflows within Indian newsrooms.

Media houses are now seeking “AI ethics editors” who are explicitly responsible for ensuring the ethical and responsible deployment of algorithms.

Newsrooms are also creating roles for “prompt engineers” to optimize AI for content creation, as well as AI-enhanced data journalists for massive dataset analysis.

The Bharat Media Association views the establishment of these roles as a crucial structural development.

Indian journalists must be trained to supervise AI outputs and remain transparent about the technology’s role, ensuring it serves the story without introducing unchecked algorithmic biases.
