New Mandatory Timeline for “Unlawful” Content Removal

As of February 2026, the government has drastically shortened the response time for digital platforms.

Digital Platforms must now remove content deemed “unlawful” by the government within 3 hours of receiving an order (down from the previous 36 hours).

For smaller news houses and independent creators, this creates an immense technical and legal burden to respond to notices in almost real-time.
